USC Upstate wins A-Sun softball tournament; Advances to NCAA tournament
In addition, Cheyenne Griffin (Moore, S.C.) was named the A-Sun Most Valuable Player and was joined on the all-tournament team by Meredith Barnes (Salem, Ore.), Shellie Robinson (DeLand, Fla.) and Jamie Ujvari (Niceville, Fla.).
USC Upstate to host book signing and reception for noted financial columnist Neil Irwin, May 13
A Spartanburg native, Irwin is a Washington Post columnist and the economics editor of Wonkblog, The Post’s site for policy news and analysis. He is the author of “The Alchemists: Three Central Bankers and a World on Fire” a book about the efforts of the world’s central banks to combat the financial crisis and its aftermath.
Farnsworth and Johnson use past experiences to prepare for doctoral programs in chemistry and biology
Tyler Farnsworth, a chemistry major, and Joshua Johnson, a biology major, will be graduating from USC Upstate today with plans to pursue their Ph.D.s at UNC Chapel Hill and University of California Berkeley, respectively.

Part of the Palmetto Trail goes through campus but comes to an end at campus boundaries. Part of the effort to "Finish the Trail' will link the university's portion to downtown Spartanburg and Landrum portions. The public input session and two workshops will provide more information.

Spartans Set for A-Sun Championship Appearance
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – After securing a bid to postseason play in walk-off fashion last Saturday, the USC Upstate baseball team is set to take on Mercer Wednesday at 1:15 p.m. in the opening round of the 2013 Atlantic Sun Baseball Championship in DeLand, Fla., at Melching Field.
Walls, Oden and Kemboi Earn A-Sun All-Academic Nods
MACON, Ga. – Ross Oden, Gilbert Kemboi and Brittany Walls of the USC Upstate men’s and women’s track & field teams were named to the Atlantic Sun Conference Outdoor All-Academic Teams as announced by the league office Monday morning.
Upstate Ends NCAA Tournament Run with 3-0 Loss to Western Kentucky
Tuscaloosa, Ala. – The USC Upstate softball team ended its run in the Tuscaloosa Regional of the NCAA Tournament with a 3-0 loss to Western Kentucky Saturday night, just three hours after securing the school’s first ever victory in an NCAA Division I tournament against Jacksonville State.

Thursday Afternoon Acting Group To Perform “Totally Red,” May 11
“Totally Red” is the standard story about Little Red Riding Hood, who meets the Big Bad Wolf on her way to bring Grandma some goodies. This is a humorous version of the story told in melodrama, Elizabethan, hip hop and avant-garde style.
