On behalf of our faculty, staff and students, I would
like to welcome you to the nationally accredited School of Education at USC
Upstate. We have a three-fold mission: to prepare effective teachers who are reflective
practitioners and professionals; to serve the needs of the schools in the state
of South Carolina, particularly the Upstate, by working collaboratively with
P-12 school personnel and to advance the understanding of how teaching and
learning occur effectively.
I invite you to read about our undergraduate degree and
graduate degree programs. Our programs prepare teachers for state
licensure through the South Carolina State Department of Education. We are fortunate and proud to partner with our
local school districts to prepare teachers in best practices that work in
real-world classrooms. One of the strongest indicators of the quality of our
programs comes from the high volume of requests for our graduates that we
receive from school districts.
Our distinguished faculty have expert knowledge and
experience in their disciplines, and they are dedicated to preparing students
to help children with diverse learning needs. What cannot be captured in writing is the quality of positive
interactions between students and faculty that characterizes this School. For
that experience, I encourage you to visit us—to meet students and faculty to
see how we can fulfill your professional aspirations.
I look forward to seeing you at USC Upstate and sharing
in your success.
