The Archives and Special Collections are home to the library’s rare books, archives and manuscript collections requiring care and control that cannot be provided in the open stacks. It houses a variety of materials and several special collections that help to
promote knowledge and understanding of the history, programs and goals of USC Upstate as well as the Upstate region of South Carolina. The Archives are separated into two distinct areas: University Archives and Archives of the Upstate.

The circulation staff are always working behind the scene to make your library experience better. In addition to helping students check out and renew their resources, they place holds on items that are currently checked out, and assist with the microfilm reader, printers
and copiers. They are also responsible for shelving all library materials, keeping the book stacks in good order and much more.
The library contains several robust collections that are available to students, faculty and staff. These collections include: the general or circulation collection, the juvenile collection, the leisure reading collection, the maps and atlases collection, the oversize collection, the periodicals and microforms collection, the reference collection, current and bound periodicals and archives and special collections.
Our Collection Development Department ensures that our students, faculty and staff members have the information they need by stocking our collections with materials in all formats for all subjects and disciplines.
Do you need a resource that is not available at the USC Upstate Library? Check out Interlibrary Loan.
