Spartanburg Charter School's Open Enrollment for the 2011-2012 schoolyear will begin on Monday, November 1 2010 and continue through February 1, 2011. We are enrolling Kindergarten through 7th grade for the 2011-2012 school. If, after February 1, SCS determines that there are more applications than slots available we will have a lottery to determine acceptance into the school. Applications are accepted thereafter and all throughout the year on a first-come, first-served space available basis.
 
Parents/Guardians can make application in person at the school (385 S. Spring Street), by calling 621-3882 to obtain a paper application, or by applying online at http://www.spartanburgcharterschool.org/index.php?option=com_performs&formid=27.
 
We look forward to another successful year as we grow, and we welcome all to the SCS family. Come visit! We have regular tours on Tuesdays at 1:00 with no appointment necessary.

The USC Upstate College Democrats and Republicans are having a competition to see who can do the most to help those in need in Spartanburg. 

Here is how it works.  Beginning on Tuesday, you will see red (for Republican) and blue (for Democrat) boxes around campus.  We are using these boxes to collect commonly used items for the Haven (a shelter near Downtown).  Here are some examples of what we are looking for:

Bar soap
Shampoo (if you have some hotel size shampoo that you "borrowed" this is a chance to give it to a good cause)
Deodorant
Toothbrushes and toothpaste
Combs, razors, shaving cream and nail files

Basically, we are looking for toiletries and other personal hygiene items.

Once you have gathered your items, just drop them in either a blue or red box.  If your want to deliver a larger quantity of items, or can't find a box, email Trevor Rubenzer at trubenzer@uscupstate.edu. 

Our campaign is only going for one week.  The boxes will be emptied and removed on November 20.

The Oakland House Restaurant is a fine dining establishment located in Spartanburg, SC.  We offer an atmosphere, wine selection and choice of fine cuisine that is unrivaled.  Every other Thursday starting @ 7pm we offer "Evenings on Oakland" wine and dinner events and (Tues-Fri) from 11am-2pm we offer a delicious lunch menu.  We are always available for receptions, weddings or any other event catering.

 

This Thursday, May 7th we are giving you a chance to learn some of our kitchen secrets.  This Evening on Oakland will feature a cooking class instructing you in preparing pasta primavera the way it was meant to be made.  The evening will consist of the delicious pasta primavera, 3 additional small plates and 4 paired wines.
