Applied Music Courses
USC Upstate offers private music lessons (SMUS 111 and SMUS 311) in guitar, piano, jazz piano, voice, trumpet, saxophone, trombone and percussion. Students will receive 12 one-half hour lessons; four hours per week of practice time is suggested. Students enrolled in SMUS 111 or SMUS 311 will earn one credit hour. Lessons are scheduled with the instructor at a mutually agreed upon time.
Fees: The fee for applied music courses is equivalent to the current "per semester hour" fee. This will be charged in addition to all other fees, even for full-time students. The fee for applied lessons must be paid before lessons can begin.
PLEASE NOTE: Fees cannot be reduced or waived by full-time enrollment, tuition assistance or special status.
STUDENTS WHO WITHDRAW FROM THIS COURSE WILL NOT RECEIVE A TUITION REIMBURSEMENT OR REFUND.
Students enroll in Applied Music by completing an enrollment form signed by the student, a member of the music faculty and the department Chair. Forms are available in HPAC 125.
