The USC Upstate Pre-Occupational Therapy program is an advisement track within the biology degree program. The only occupational therapy degree program in South Carolina is offered by the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). MUSC offers a 26-month curriculum leading to a Master of Science in Rehabilitation Sciences: Occupational Therapy.

Occupational Therapy Program Admission:
A bachelor’s degree and Graduate Record Exam (GRE) are required for admission to the Master of Science in Rehabilitation Sciences: Occupational Therapy at MUSC. Students entering the program are evaluated based on GRE scores, undergraduate academic performance and successful completion of prerequisite courses. A minimum of a 3.0 cumulative GPA is required.
MUSC also assigns credit for volunteer/work experience. In order to obtain credit, applicants must complete 30 hours in occupational therapy and obtain a confidential volunteer/work evaluation form documenting their service and performance.

Mathematics 102 or Psychology 225 (Statistics)
Biology 232 + Lab (Human Anatomy)*
Biology 242 + Lab (Human Physiology)*
Psychology 302 (Developmental Psychology)
Psychology 310 (Abnormal Psychology)
Sociology or Anthropology
*Biology 232 and 242 do not satisfy the requirement for the B.S. in Biology. To satisfy this requirement, you must take Biology 315 and 360.
Note: Pre-Admission Certification - First Aid and CPR American Heart Association, Basic Life Support course for Health Care Providers must be completed before the start of classes.
