National Study of Learning, Voting and Engagement

USC Upstate is one of approximately 800 colleges and universities that participate in the National Study of Learning, Voting and Engagement (NSLVE). The study is conducted by the Institute for Democracy and Higher Education at the Jonathan M. Tisch College of Civic Life at Tufts University.

The attached report provides USC Upstate's student voting rates for the 2012 and 2014 national elections. The data are broken down by characteristics such as age and field of study. Perhaps the most interesting information is on page eight, which indicates that student voting rate for the 2012 election was much higher than average. This is especially remarkable given that both major presidential campaigns ignored South Carolina in the 30 days leading up to the election.
