Adventure of the American Mind
An Adventure of the American Mind (AAM) is a project funded through the Library of Congress, which was awarded in South Carolina through the efforts and support of United States Congressman Jim DeMint (R-S.C.). The goal of AAM is to provide pre-service and in-service teachers the tools and instructional skills necessary to integrate technology into the teaching and learning process.
Program Focus
The AAM program at the University of South Carolina Upstate will help pre-service and in-service teachers, as well as university faculty, become proficient in the creation and use of digitized resources. AAM will utilize the latest technology to link teachers and students to the resources found at the Library of Congress.
Teachers who are selected take a graduate course that covers the uses of the digital resources found on the American Memory web site, the integration of technology into the South Carolina Curriculum Standards, and the instructional use of technology. All participants are expected to mentor a colleague in their schools during the spring semester.
