Global Discovery Program
USC Upstate’s Global Discovery Program is designed to provide support for selected university students to travel to other countries to learn about the culture, customs, political, educational, social systems and religious practices.
Students will be selected to participate in this program each year through a competitive process and will be chosen on the basis of:
- their financial need for support
- demonstrated academic ability
- genuine interest in learning about other nations
- their willingness to share their travel experience and insights with others upon their return to the United States
This opportunity is extended to students who have already earned 60-90 credit hours and have achieved a 2.5 or better cumulative grade point average. Student applicants are required to submit a one page essay which addresses why the student deserves to participate in the Global Discovery Program. In addition, each applicant is expected to have a letter of recommendation completed by a professor in the student’s major. Applicants will also be asked to participate in an interview.
