Activities and Organizations
I enjoy playing flag football in Sunday league and other recreational sports. I also like to attend IMA meetings to listen and talk to other people who have gone down the same path I am going.
Which professors made a difference in your life?
Professor Routman at USC Upstate left a definite impression on my way of thinking. He taught his Legal Environment to Business class with such enthusiasm that it became the one class I looked forward to attending. He explained law in a way that revealed the big picture of what law actually is and why it was created, taking it back to its roots and the people responsible for it. It is this way of looking at the legal environment that has become a part of my life, not only applicable to law but to all areas of business and life.
My favorite subject to study so far has been macroeconomics. I love learning how people interact and looking at these interactions from a distance to see how they are related, not only on a local and national level but also on a global level.
My dream career would be that of an investor in small to mid sized businesses. I would love to become financially independent owning businesses and use my free time to invest profits in charitable ventures for less fortunate people in poor countries. My time would be spent traveling to meet managers and discuss business while looking for more opportunities to build relationships and invest profitably. My first step towards this dream is becoming a CPA and immersing myself in the language of business, accounting.
What does USC Upstate mean to you?
To me, USC Upstate provides the opportunity to earn my bachelor’s degree in business/accounting while working full time. The availability of night classes in Greenville has made my work and school schedule possible. This scholarship will significantly lessen the financial burden of paying tuition, allowing me to work fewer hours during this fall semester so that I can concentrate on my classes. It will probably result in a higher GPA for my final semester.
