Cyndi Waters (BA Education ’83) is a people person – a great “networker” who enjoys listening to a person’s needs and matching them with a service, product or person who can best help in their situation. In fact, this magna cum laude graduate, who was married with a child while attending college, says that one of her fondest memories of USC Upstate was being able to rely on faculty and staff to help her accomplish her goals without having to jump through numerous hoops.
The desire to help people in their financial transactions led Waters to the banking industry over 12 years ago. She worked in sales training for three years, professional and executive banking for nine years, and now she is the vice president/private banking officer at Carolina Alliance Bank. In this position, she works with professionals, executives and high net-worth individuals concerning all commercial and consumer loan and deposit needs.
Waters is excited to be working with Carolina Alliance Bank, a new bank on the Spartanburg scene, having just received its state charter in January 2007. The new community bank, headquartered in Spartanburg, has 19 employees and is temporarily located at 102 Henry Street, while awaiting completion of their new building on Kennedy and Church Streets.
Waters, a Charleston native, has been married to Jack Waters for 28 years. They have a daughter who is a paralegal and a son who is a part-time student, and she is also a proud grandmother. When she is not working or visiting family, Waters tries to get to the gym during the week “to make up for too many years of not going.” Waters also serves on numerous boards and clubs including the Breakfast-of-Spartanburg Business and Professional Women’s Club, Kiwanis Club of Spartanburg as well as the USC Upstate alumni board.
