Stacey was inspired by the motto “What would you attempt to do if you knew that you could not fail?” (Anonymous), and the rest is history. A self-starter, Stacey sees no limitations in what she can achieve, and is reaching beyond the sky and grabbing for the stars! She believes that the platform of Miss South Carolina will give her the opportunity to make a difference, not only within her state, but around the world. She is confident that her diverse culture will allow her to be an exceptional representative of South Carolina. Stacey looks forward to proudly representing Greenville, and the citizens who have and continue to make a difference in her life daily.
She was born in the state of Arizona. Stacey moved to her mother's native country of Trinidad and Tobago in the West Indies at the age of 5, where she and her family lived for 3 years. The family moved back to her father's native state of South Carolina in the early 90s, where she was soon enveloped in southern culture!
Greenville County is where she attended grade school. She was an East Gantt Tiger (now Robert E Cashion Elementary), a Hughes Cougar, and then a Southside Tiger where she earned her high school diploma. During her time at Southside she was enrolled in the International Studies Program. She was a member of the National Honor Society, the National Spanish Honor Society, was a recipient of the Daughters of the American Revolution Scholarship, and served as a Tiger Ambassador. She was a Cheerleader for 3 years, won Sophomore Princess, Homecoming Queen, and also Prom Queen.
She went on to attend the University of South Carolina Upstate where she received her Bachelor's degree in Communications with a focus in Electronic Media, and a cognate in Spanish. During her junior year she became a member of the Sigma Alpha Lambda National Leadership and Honors Organization. She also studied abroad for a summer semester at the Universidad de Salamanca in Spain.
Stacey is a member of Newspring, a church with many locations throughout the state of South Carolina. She volunteers at her church on the production team in Greenville, using the skills she gained in college. Stacey is a full time Licensed Insurance Sales Producer in the state of South Carolina with Allstate Insurance for agent Walter Jamison. She also started her own photography company in 2011, Smit'N Photography.
She has a passion for helping young girls realize their potential, and strives to be a positive influence in their lives. Stacey has always reached out personally to girls in her community, but dreams of starting a mentoring program directed towards young girls. She believes that with guidance and positive role models, more young girls can prosper and become teachers, doctors, entrepreneurs, and so much more.
With a desire to be a voice for those who may not have much influence, the Miss South Carolina USA pageant opens up a door to be able speak for those who cannot always speak for themselves, or attract a listening ear. Stacey wants to make a difference, she wants her life to leave a legacy, and she believes that it starts here.
