Growing up the son of a preacher, he lived all over the state of South Carolina. Because his father was a Methodist pastor, he moved every four-six years. He finished High School in Greenville at Wade Hampton High School. Since then, he has lived in Spartanburg for 14 years, which is longer then he has lived anywhere else. He now officially considers Spartanburg his home!

      1. What kind of student were you? Going into my freshman year at Upstate I planned to attend one year and transfer to Columbia. I made so many friends through my involvement with a fraternity (Sigma Alpha Epsilon) that I decided to stay. I was the kind of student who enjoyed the social aspects of college.
      2. How did your experience at USC Upstate prepare you for your career? I served in leadership roles through my involvement with Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE). This gave me the opportunity to serve on a board and committees whose job it was to plan, serve and execute the fraternity's business and bylaws. I am now in a position where I have to present and talk in front of large audiences on a regular basis. Many of the courses that I took prepared me with the communication and presentation skills I needed to present effectively today.
      3. Did a particular faculty member leave a lasting impression on you? John Montemayor was working for the career center at the time of graduation. He was incredibly helpful in guiding me through the resume and interview process. We continue to keep in touch and have lunch on a regular basis.
      4. What is your fondest memory of USC Upstate? Meeting my wife Stephanie.
      5. Since graduation, what jobs have you held? I worked for Greenville Office Supply directly out of school as an Account Manager (2005-2008). In October of 2008 I began working for Clayton Construction Company as vice president of business development.
      6. What is your current job and what duties are included? As vice president of business development at Clayton Construction Companies, I network with key business leaders and economic development officials to engage future construction project opportunities.
