Recent restructuring of Dell's warranty and sales program has forced USC Upstate to change its lineup of recommended laptops. In an effort to give students more choice, we plan to offer additional laptops from other vendors in the near future.
All laptops come with a full 4 year, Complete Care warranty from Dell. This provides full coverage for all problems, including accidental damage and Lojack Theft Protection. USC Upstate ITS will provide technical support on your Dell recommended laptop for as long as it is covered under warranty.
The 2009 laptop lineup is fully customizable to your liking. What you see here is only the minimum specs we will support on each model. Keep in mind, while you can find these models of Dell laptops elsewhere, USC Upstate ITS can only provide technical support for those purchased through our Dell Partner Web site at www.dell.com/uscupstate.
All of the Dell recommended laptops are suitable for normal college uses like writing papers, surfing the web, checking e-mail, listening to music, and downloading pictures from your camera. It is highly recommended that you purchase Microsoft Office 2007 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) for your new laptop; it is available for a discount through VIP. Each laptop has wireless internet capabilities built-in to take full advantage of Upstate’s campus-wide 802.11g/n wireless network. All laptops come loaded with Windows Vista Home Premium.
