USC Upstate

Please note the important changes below regarding Impress Printing.

What happened?
Office Depot/Max decided to discontinue their desktop delivery process for Impress/PDS orders sent through email or picked up from the drop boxes on campus. These changes have been made with little to no consultation or input of USC Upstate personnel. These process changes have caused the delivery turnaround to change from next day to 3-4 day turnaround times.

What about my departmental printer/copier/scanner multi-function device? Is this changing?
Nothing is changing at this time for the departmental services. Please continue to print and use the departmental devices.

What are my options moving forward?
There are three local print shops that University Communications has worked with and recommends who are able to handle the printing needs we have on campus from tests and monochrome printing to full color production posters, brochures and other materials. They are as follows:

  • Southeastern is dropping prints off in the Greenville area everyday so we recommend them to faculty, staff and students on the Greenville campus.
  • Southeastern will also ensure next day delivery as long as the request is sent by noon. Drop-offs are between 3-4 pm next day unless there is a specific request.
  • Payment Options: University Credit Card, invoice, or you can setup a blanket PO for the charges to be billed against.
  • Please verify any costs and delivery timeframe as you work with each company.
  • Cost – These printers cannot guarantee the state contract pricing we receive from Office Depot|Max but their pricing is very competitive.
  • Delivery – Due to the short term nature of our needs and quick agreement in helping out, next day delivery time-frames are not guaranteed but we have been reassured that if there are deadlines they will do what they can to ensure you have your print jobs on time.
  • Please send documents as a PDF when possible to ensure the document prints as expected.
  • Provide the following when requesting any printing:
    1. Requester Name
    2. Job name
    3. Job info(# of prints, paper type, monochrome/full color, etc.)
    4. Department name
    5. Drop-off location
    6. Special instructions or time-frames
  • Prior review and approval by University Communications is required for materials that will be distributed to an external audience, off campus, and/or campus-wide. Contact Tammy Whaley at 864-503-5210 or  via e-mail for review, approval or questions. If you are experiencing problems with your order, please contact ITS Help Desk at 864-503-5257.
  • You may use your departmental multi-function device (printer/copier/scanner) to print materials and copies in any quantity you would like. There are also high-volume color printers available in the library and CLC for you to use.
  • If you wish, you may continue to use Office Depot|Max for your printing needs. However, please keep in mind the following changes to the process:
  • Expect a 3-4 day turnaround for ALL print jobs sent to Office Depot/Max
  • Deliveries of orders will be processed through FedEx and inter-campus mail. There will be no more van delivery by Office Depot/Max
  • If you hand deliver print jobs to the Office Max store, you may continue to operate in this function like you have in the past. Students may continue to use the Office Max discount cards as well.
