Registration
All students who attend USC Upstate can register for classes through the VIP (Visual Information Processing) system. Learn how to use VIP to conduct most of your campus business.

Your PIN (Personal Identification Number)
Each student has a four-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN). PINs are required to access grades, registration, appointment times, and fee payment through VIP.
If you have never used the VIP web site before, there is a LOGIN link on the VIP page and also a “New Student User” link that you should click . If you have already used VIP, you can click the Login to VIP link. First time users should read and follow the instructions posted on the page. A four digit Personal Identification Number (PIN) is required to access VIP. This screen takes you through the process required to set that PIN. When you are ready to continue click the “Set Your PIN” button. Enter the last five digits of your USC identification number, which is usually your social security number and then your legal last name, first name and birth date and click Reset PIN. Then you will be sent an email message containing a “provisional” PIN number that you will use to login to VIP the first time. The email address that you entered when you applied for admission will be used for this purpose.
If you forget your PIN, please stop by the Registrar's Office (in the Health Education Complex, Suite 2081) with photo identification, and we will be glad to furnish you with this information.
Meet with Your Advisor
All students must make an appointment with their academic advisor before attempting registration. If you try to bypass this crucial step, the computer will automatically block your registration until you have been advised. Advisement will aid you in selecting the courses that are appropriate for your major.
If you do not know who has been assigned as your advisor, please contact the office of your major or the center.
Students need to contact their advisor to schedule an appointment during the week of priority advisement. Appointment sign-up sheets will generally be posted on the advisor’s office door or may be available through the departmental administrative assistant.
