Course Reserves

Course reserves are supplementary course materials an instructor sets aside for use in a specific course. Examples of course reserves include lecture notes, old tests or term papers, videos, book chapters, and journal articles. The two types of course reserves are print reserves and electronic reserves.

On the library circulation desk is a notebook labeled Course Reserves, and its pages are arranged in alphabetical order by either the professor’s last name or the academic department. Find your particular course page, and note whether your reserve is a print reserve or an electronic reserve. (You may see below for the list of instructors who are currently using electronic reserves.)

If your reserve is a print reserve, note the call number or reserve number located on the left side column of the page. Give this number to the circulation staff, and he or she will be happy to retrieve the print reserve for you. Remember, you may only access print reserves with a valid USC Upstate ID.

If your reserve is an electronic reserve, you may access it online using your USC Upstate network username and password. (See below for the list of instructors who are currently using electronic reserves.)

NOTE: Electronic Reserves are in Acrobat (.pdf) format. In order to read these files, users must have the Adobe Acrobat Reader. The Acrobat Reader may be downloaded for free by clicking on the icon below.
