Congratulations and welcome to the University of South Carolina Upstate! We are one of the fastest-growing universities in South Carolina and one of the leading metropolitan universities in the southeast.
USC Upstate is a community of faculty and staff, and 5,500 students from 36 states and 51 nations. Our beautiful, 330-acre campus is located in Spartanburg, SC, which is a college town situated along the thriving I-85 economic corridor and within driving distance of beaches, the picturesque Blue Ridge Mountains and the professional, cultural and lifestyle possibilities offered by Atlanta and Charlotte.
It’s the perfect place to start you on the path to your future, and we are thrilled you are considering USC Upstate as the beginning of that path. The information below will guide you through the steps you need to take now in order to prepare to join the USC Upstate family. The transition to college is a big one, and we want to be there for you every step of the way. We’re here to guide you, inspire you, encourage you and to let you be "you."
The first thing you must do to continue the enrollment process is claim your VIP ID. This will allow you to log into Self Service Carolina, where you will complete many of the steps for enrollment. You’ll use the site extensively during your time at Upstate.
Complete the immunization form and health history form. Both forms must be completed before registration. For information on immunization requirements, visit the Health Services website.
If you are seeking financial aid, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible following the completion of your tax return. For more information, visit the Financial Aid website.
Visit the Orientation website for everything you need to know about Orientation. You’ll need to choose a date and make a reservation online as soon as possible.
If you are interested in on-campus housing, please submit the online housing application and $145 deposit. Log into Self Service Carolina to complete the application.
All USC students must present proof of citizenship or lawful presence in the U.S. before enrolling. If you have not completed the FAFSA, you will be required to complete a Citizenship Status Verification form and return to the Admissions Office with all proper documentation.
If you have taken any advanced placement tests or international baccalaureate credits during high school, you must have official test scores submitted electronically to the Records Office. Our school code is 5850.
Attend Orientation to register for classes.
If you wish to purchase a meal plan, you may contact Dining Services at 864-503-5900. Detailed information on meal plans will also be available at orientation. A meal plan is required for all students living on campus. All commuter students are required to have a minimum $50 meal plan. For information on dining plans, visit the Dining Services website.
