Strategic Plan

Strategic planning is the process of defining the institution’s direction and making decisions relative to allocating resources to achieve established goals.  It involves setting goals, determining actions to achieve the goals, and mobilizing resources to execute the actions.  It is both formulation and implementation.

In the spring of 2014 the first stages of a new and robust planning process were initiated.  The first step was to invite widespread input from staff and faculty across our two campuses.  Fifty employees met in focus groups for four months to consider hard questions about our identity, our priorities, and our practices.  These questions and their answers became the platform for the strategic plan.

This is a “living” document, designed to meet the changing needs of the institution and its students.  We will refine and expand the objectives that will guide each Division, College, and Department.  Over the next three years, we will fulfill strategic objectives that we define for ourselves through focus, dedication, collaboration, and transparency.   Our plan will be guided by a shared vision and grounded in mission with:

  • Clear three-year goals
  • Specific and measurable objectives, detailed action plans, and accountable leaders for each goal
  • Assessments / performance indicators that will signal our progress
  • A commitment to gather and use the data we need to make decisions, assess the results of those decisions, and adjust priorities and strategies as needed
  • Regular, clear, transparent communication about priorities, progress, and problems.
  • Adherence to sound principles of shared governance
