Health Services is located at 995 University Way, off of the intersection of University Way and Valley Falls Road.
As an employee, you may call our office at extension 5191 to schedule an appointment to be seen by one of our nurse practitioners or our physician, most often the same day. Occasionally, during peak times, it may be within 24 hours of your request. This has proven to be most beneficial to those who have sought our assistance, as it is often difficult to receive timely appointments through some primary provider offices.
We treat a variety of common health complaints, such as sinus infections, urinary tract infections, poison ivy and more. There is a minimum charge of $15 per visit plus the cost of any laboratory studies, vaccines or procedure supplies needed in your care. These fees are payable at the time of the visit by check or cash only, as we are not equipped to accept debit or credit cards. It is also important to note that at this time, USC Upstate Health Services is NOT a member of any health insurance network. A printed statement with appropriate diagnosis and transaction coding can be provided upon request for reimbursement from your insurance carrier for services rendered, provided you are not mandated to use an in-network provider.
Please recognize that Health Services is not in competition with any area health care providers, and do not wish to discourage faculty and staff from seeing their provider of record. Health Services has found that many of the area providers appreciate this service, as there are often no available appointments within their practices in a timely manner. The intent of our service is to provide timely, cost-effective care as a convenience, with minimal disruption to your very busy life!
We specialize in urgent treatment of acute illness or injury, but do not provide chronic health care to our employees. Our focus is on health promotion/injury prevention and urgent care of occurrences. We can; however, partner with your primary provider who orders laboratory specimens to be collected and processed by an external laboratory at a reduced rate. It is the responsibility of the employee to verify with the covering insurance carrier if a particular reference laboratory is required for maximum coverage. This verification should be obtained prior to scheduling such an appointment and should be made known to the Health Services staff member confirming your appointment.
We also administer allergy injections, influenza and other vaccines and offer health counseling/education upon request. Our fee schedule is posted on the Health Services webpage (www.uscupstate.edu/campus_services/health).
Please note: “Walk-In Hours” are reserved for students, so employees are seen by appointment only. Regrettably, our professional liability insurance policy will NOT allow us to provide care to dependents. Health Services also contracts with an all RN-staffed answering service for after hours (night, weekend and holiday coverage) should you need assistance when our office is closed.
Please call to preregister or come by and introduce yourself so we can register you in our electronic health record system, which will expedite your first visit for services, if you have not visited us before. If you have any specific questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. The staff of Health Services looks forward to working with you!
