Early Intervention Program
Faculty can report mid-semester on students who may not be performing satisfactorily in their courses. Follow-up is available for students.
We work closely with freshmen to ease the transition from high school to college. Freshmen are encouraged to enroll in University 101 (SUNV W101), which provides the necessary skills and strategies of successful college students, and opportunity to participate in carefully planned interdisciplinary learning communities.
A series of peer-led weekly review sessions for students taking historically difficult courses, providing students the opportunity to network with their peers and develop study skills in a fun environment. On average, students who attend SI on a regular basis earn a final grade that is one half to one full letter grade higher.
Free tutorial assistance is available to students in most subject areas. All tutoring is peer-led, and we are proud to employ some of the best and brightest student tutors. Tutoring is offered in most subjects, except foreign language, writing, and English.
Individual meetings at the Academic Support Center are available by appointment. To schedule an appointment, simply complete the Appointment Request Form or call us at 864-503-5070.
