Science & Nature Camps 2013

Camp Discovery Logo

New for 2013! All day camps! This year the Watershed Ecology Center is teaming up with Sparty’s Camps for Kids to bring you a whole day of fun and discovery!

Discover Why!

  • Dates: June 24 - 28
  • Time: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Location: Watershed Ecology Center, USC Upstate
  • Participant ages: 5-7
  • Cost: $100

Why? Well, that is a very good question, and one that we will answer this week at camp. We will discover the why behind some of the great mysteries in nature, like “Why does Bella the gecko have such a fat tail?”, and many others. Join us as we spend our mornings answering that age old question and afternoons knowing why we enjoy cooling off in the pool and playing lots of fun games!

Discover How!

  • Dates: June 24 - 28
  • Time: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Location: Roel Pavilion, USC Upstate
  • Participant ages: 8-10
  • Cost: $100

Have you ever wondered how different animals survive in their extreme habitats, how ice cream freezes, or how animals can tell us about water quality? If you have, this is the camp for you. We will spend a fun filled week checking into these “hows” of science along with many others and then determining how much we enjoy time in the pool and playing games in the afternoons.

Discover Who!

  • Dates: June 24 - 28
  • Time: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Location: Lab 4, Smith Science Building, USC Upstate
  • Participant ages: 11 & 12
  • Cost: $100

By the end of the week we will discover who committed the mysterious wrong doings in Lab 4 of the Smith Science Building. Like the detectives on CSI we will spend the week finding and processing clues found in the lab. As we discover who did it, we will also uncover the science in crime scene investigation! In the mornings we will be in the lab, afternoons will be spent relaxing as only a detective can, in the pool and playing active games of all types!
