There is no limit to the number of books that may be checked out by students & faculty. For specific Circulation policy for library materials, see Circulation Policy.

  • Students: three (3) weeks
  • Faculty: 120 days
  • Other: three (3) weeks
 
   
2. HOW DO I GO ABOUT RENEWING ITEMS? Return to Top
  Books can usually be renewed at the library. Books will not be renewed by telephone.  Books that are not overdue may be renewable from the "My Account" button in the Library Catalog.
   
3. WHERE CAN I GET CHANGE? Return to Top
  There is a change machine, which will change a one or a five dollar bill, in the photocopying area. Please do not ask the librarians to make change.

Materials returned after the due date incur charges which are to be paid at the Circulation Desk. Overdue materials may prevent checkout of additional material and class registration.

Books: The overdue fine is $0.25 per day per book. The fine is forgiven for books returned within seven days (grace period) of the due date. However, on the eighth day the fine is $2.00 per book. Books generally circulate for three weeks. Renewal is usually possible.

Videos and CDs: The overdue fine is $1.00 per day per video. There is no grace period. Videos and CDs generally circulate for seven days.

Interlibrary Loan: The overdue fine is $1.00 per day per item. There is no grace period for ILL items. Due dates are set by the library which owns the item. It is sometimes possible to renew an ILL item once. Please present the ILL item at the circulation desk to request renewal. ILL items cannot be renewed electronically.

Reserves: The overdue fine is $5.00 per day for all types of reserves. There is no grace period. Reserve materials cannot be renewed.

PASCAL Delivers: The overdue fine is $1.00 per day per item.  There is no grace period.  The loan period is usually six weeks.  PASCAL Delivers books cannot be renewed.

  There is a book drop located outside, at the front of the building.
   
6. WHERE CAN I FIND VIDEO TAPES? Return to Top
  Video tapes are shelved with the general collection. These can be searched in library catalog.

8. WHERE ARE YOUR MAGAZINES AND JOURNALS LOCATED? Return to Top
  Magazines and Journals are located in the Periodical/Microforms  section of the library on the first floor. These materials are arranged in alphabetical order by current, bound, and microfilm.
   
9. HOW DO I CHECK OUT ITEMS THAT PROFESSORS HAVE PLACED ON RESERVE? Return to Top
  Most reserve materials are for use in the library only. Other reserve materials circulate for 24 hours, 3 days, or 7 days. You must have your USC Upstate ID to check out reserve materials.

  Study rooms are available on a first come, first serve basis.
   
 11. HOW DO I USE THE COPIERS? Return to Top
  There are four coin operated copiers. Library staff will be happy to assist you in the use of the copiers. Copies are ten cents each.
