December 6 @ 9:00 am – 1:00 pm
Join us as we celebrate Arbor Day on Friday, December 6. We will begin our morning (9:00am) at the Liberty Street Parking Garage located behind USC Upstate’s George Dean Johnson College of Business and Economics as the Mayor of Spartanburg, The Honorable Jerome Rice ’08, will make a proclamation and dedicate a tree in the City of Spartanburg.
After the dedication, we will move to the Dr. Lawrence E. Roël Pavilion on the University of South Carolina Upstate campus (10:15am). There, we will enjoy hot cider and goodies with a fireside chat on tree and plant identification with Bob Polomski, Associate Extension Specialist–Horticulture/Arboriculture at the Clemson Extension, and Kevin Parris, Horticulture Instructor and Arboretum Director with Spartanburg Community College.
To conclude Arbor Day events, lunch (12 noon) will be provided for those that wish to participate in the campus walking tour with Bob and Kevin to identify plants at USC Upstate’s campus.
