Taylor Brown ’11

Outstanding Alumni Award

Taylor Brown remembers visiting the USC Upstate campus one afternoon with his grandmother, who worked in the business office at the time. As a little kid, he was fascinated by the big buildings and academic environment.

When it was time for Brown to choose a college, Upstate was the natural choice.

“Upstate was always kind of in the family, and it was always a part of the community that I knew growing up,” Brown said. “It’s a great education, it was an accredited business program, and the affordability just made sense.”

After earning his degree in business administration with a concentration in marketing, Brown founded Go-To Man Marketing in Spartanburg in 2012.

Being part of the community is important to him, both so he can give back to his alma mater and be near his clients.

“I can spend more time with them and it gives me a great work-life balance to where I can be involved with things at the university or in the community in general,” he said.

Brown currently serves as board chair for the Alumni Advisory Council for JCBE. He was named to the board in 2023. He also has volunteered for university initiatives and recently hosted an alumni panel at the business college.
