A Ceremony to Remember
When you order your USC Upstate Class Ring, you’ll have the opportunity to take part in the University Ring Ceremony.
This memorable event celebrates your accomplishments and marks the beginning of a lasting bond with USC Upstate. During the ceremony, you’ll proudly receive your class ring.
Held in front of the historic John C. Stockwell Administration Building, the ceremony takes place at one of the most iconic and beloved landmarks on campus. With its towering magnolias, stately gold dome, and grand fountain, the Stockwell Building provides the perfect backdrop for this milestone moment. Named in honor of USC Upstate’s second chancellor, it stands as a symbol of our university’s legacy—making it a fitting place to begin yours.
On the eve of the ceremony, each ring is placed beneath the dome, deepening its symbolic connection to the university. During the ceremony, students receive their rings in the presence of friends, family, faculty, and alumni, followed by the ceremonial ring dip in the Sorenson fountain—a uniquely Upstate tradition that marks your transition from student to Spartan for life.
As part of this longstanding tradition, undergraduates wear their ring with the face turned inward, representing their ongoing journey at USC Upstate. Upon graduation, the ring is turned outward, signaling to the world that they are now proud alumni of this extraordinary institution.
Mailed Invitations to the University Ring Ceremony will be sent directly to the students who ordered the ring. Invitations will also be sent via email along with reminders and ceremony details.
Please note that registration is required for students, and it is up to the student to register all their guests.
