Following outstanding careers wearing the green, black, and white of USC Upstate and sporting the Rifle and Spartan nicknames across their uniforms, four USC Upstate alums were inducted into the USC Upstate Athletic Hall of Fame on Feb. 15, 2025.
The four newest inductees are: Marlon Grant (men’s soccer), Cheyenne (Griffin) Noffz (softball), Jametria Hannah (women’s basketball), and Cameron Thomas (men’s cross country/track & field).
The inductees were honored as part of Homecoming celebrations during and after the Spartans’ Feb. 15 doubleheader against Gardner-Webb. The 2025 Hall of Fame class were introduced during the men’s basketball contest against the Runnin’ Bulldogs and formally inducted at a 6:30 p.m. ceremony. Grant, living in his home country of Trinidad and Tobago, was inducted in absentia.

Marlon Grant | Malony Gardens, Trinidad | Men’s Soccer | 2001-02
A defensive anchor for a pair of Peach Belt Tournament Championship teams, Grant made the most of his two seasons in a Rifle uniform. Over his two seasons following a transfer from Young Harris, leading the Rifles to a 33-7-1 record and 19 total shutouts, helping the program frequent the NCAA Division II national rankings—ranking as high as fifth—and return to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1998 with an appearance in 2002. Grant started all 38 games he played, helping the defense to a 0.99 goals against average during his two seasons. The 2002 Peach Belt Player of the Year, Grant made the most of his one shot attempt on the season, sending home a diving header two minutes into overtime of the Rifles’ 4-3 comeback victory over USC Aiken. The Peach Belt Player of the Year selection marked the top accolade of his career while he added 2001 Peach Belt Tournament MVP and 2001 and 2002 NSCAA All-Southeast Region selections to his list of accomplishments.

Cheyenne Griffin | Moore, S.C. | Softball | 2012-15
A four-time All-ASUN selection and a member of the ASUN’s 2010s All-Decade team, Griffin proved a key cog in the Spartan lineup, helping the team to three straight—part of five consecutive appearances—NCAA Regional appearances. She started all 215 games of her career, helping the Spartans to a 171-44 record during her career. Griffin ranks third in career fielding percentage, posting a .987 mark, committing just 15 errors in 1,186 career attempts. She also posts top 15 career marks for batting average (.338), home runs (26), runs batted in (138), and on-base percentage (.421). Adding to her First Team All-ASUN selections in 2012 and 2014 and her two Second Team All-ASUN Selections in 2013 and 2015, Griffin also landed on the 2012 ASUN All-Freshman Team and was a 2012 NFCA Second Team All-Region selection.

Jametria Hannah | Andrews, S.C. | Women’s Basketball | 1988-92
The most prolific scorer in the history of Rifle and Spartan women’s basketball history, Hannah led the Rifles in scoring in each of her four seasons, never missing a game (playing 111 total). She scored 1,755 points in her career, averaging 15.8 points per game while shooting 55.3 percent from the field. In addition to her position as the program’s leading scorer, she also ranks fifth in program history in field goal percentage and ninth in total rebounds (608). Following her playing career, Hannah served as an assistant coach for five seasons under head coaches Peggy Sells and Carmen Nelon, helping the Rifles the program’s first Peach Belt Regular Season and Tournament Championships and first three NCAA Tournament appearances. In addition to her time as a women’s basketball assistant coach, Hannah was USC Upstate’s first women’s cross country head coach in 1994.

Cameron Thomas | Niceville, Fla. | Men’s Cross Country/Track & Field | 2009-13
One of the most accomplished distance runners in Spartan track and field history, Thomas is a three-time ASUN champion—all in the 800m event—and 2013 NCAA East Prelims qualifier. The program record holder in the Indoor 800m, Indoor 1000m, Indoor DMR, and Outdoor 800m events, he is one of five ASUN student-athletes to win multiple Outdoor 800m events, doing so in 2012 and 2013. Thomas broke the ASUN records for the 800m event in both Indoor (1:51.78) and Outdoor (1:49.29) in 2013 with his Outdoor time now ranking third in ASUN history. In cross country, Thomas is a two-time ASUN team champion (2011-12) and was a Second Team All-ASUN team member in 2012. Overall, he claimed 11 All-ASUN placements in cross country and track & field.
