This October, USC Upstate will launch its first-ever Upstate Goes Pink! campaign, a campus-wide initiative designed to raise awareness about breast cancer, promote education and support individuals and families impacted by the disease.
The campaign will benefit the Spartanburg Regional Foundation Breast Cancer Awareness Fund and bring together students, faculty, staff, alumni and community partners throughout the month.
As USC Upstate establishes what it hopes will become a lasting campus tradition, the university community can participate by attending events, purchasing pink ribbon pins and campaign merchandise, making a donation and helping spread breast cancer awareness.
Memorial and honor ribbons also will be available at select events throughout October. Participants can make a donation and dedicate a ribbon in honor or memory of a loved one, survivor, caregiver or someone whose life has been impacted by breast cancer. The ribbons will be displayed on campus later in October as a tribute to those affected by the disease.
Upstate Goes Pink! Events:
Oct. 1 — Morgan Square Madness
The annual event will include USC Upstate Goes Pink awareness and fundraising activities, including pink ribbon pins and campaign merchandise for purchase.
Oct. 3 — Dig Pink Volleyball Match and Family Fest
USC Upstate Athletics will host a breast cancer awareness volleyball match. Family Fest also will feature an opportunity to learn more about the campaign, purchase pink ribbon pins and dedicate memorial or honor ribbons.
Oct. 21 — USC Upstate Goes Pink Day
Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to wear pink across campus in support of breast cancer awareness. The day also will include the Women’s Soccer Breast Cancer Awareness Game.
Oct. 24 — ZTA Breast Cancer Awareness Golf Tournament
The fundraising tournament will support the USC Upstate Goes Pink campaign.
Additional activities hosted by student organizations, academic departments, Greek organizations and other campus groups will be added to the campaign calendar throughout October.
Donations and campaign merchandise purchases can be made through the USC Upstate Goes Pink website. Pink ribbon pins and merchandise also will be available for purchase in person at select campus events.
