Access and Equity in STEM Learning for Individuals who Read Braille

Welcome to Project INSPIRE 2: Access and Equity in STEM Learning for Individuals who Read Braille (H235E240003). Our goal is to support professionals and students who are blind or have low vision in building their skills in the two braille codes used in the United States for STEM learning. To accomplish the goal of Project INSPIRE 2, our project team will build on the work of Project INSPIRE: Increasing the STEM Potential of Individuals who Read Braille (2019-2024). The 7 professional development courses and 3 student programs developed by the Project INSPIRE team will continue to be available on our microsite on Paths to Literacy.

Project INSPIRE 2 received funding through the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services on October 1, 2024. Dr. Tina Herzberg, Professor and Coordinator of the Visual Impairment Education Program, at the University of South Carolina Upstate, is the Principal Investigator for this 5-year project.
