for the MSN Program

These are common questions for the MSN program.

  • First Step: You must Apply Online to USC Upstate university and pay the $45 application fee. Send all official transcripts to admissions@uscupstate.edu.

  • You can apply anytime, but we only accept students for the Fall and Spring semesters.

  • There is not a deadline; but we ask that you have all necessary documents within 2 weeks of the starting semester for which you are applying.

  • All classes are held 100% online with the exception of clinical hours.

  • If you are having trouble accessing email, SSC, or Blackboard, please contact the Division of Information Technology (IT).

  • All on-line students receive in-state tuition rates; no matter where they reside.

  • If you are a full-time student the program usually takes two calendar years to complete.

  • We offer 3 programs:

    • CNL (Clinical Nurse Leader)
    • Nursing Education
    • Nursing Leadership
  • A completion of an accredited BSN degree and you must have an active, clear, unrestricted RN license.

  • 38 credit hours

  • CNL – 500 clinical hours
    Nursing Education – 375 practicum hours
    Nursing Leadership – 187 practicum hours

    *note: all practicum/clinical hours can be completed in your own work/clinical settings, but hours must be earned when not working as an employee.

  • All MSN graduate students will be assigned an advisor who can help with questions and lift holds.

  • Though not always guaranteed, our Dean and Director work constantly to receive scholarships, loan and grants to ensure all our students have a substantial, and worthy experience at the Mary Black College of Nursing! Scholarship opportunities can found at Scholarships.
