The University of South Carolina Upstate strives to change the way students think about their education and future. We know that guidance counselors play a vital role in helping students choose their future academic endeavors. Therefore, we have provided the following links to facilitate your efforts in assisting students.

  • The USC Upstate Junior Scholars program recognizes some of the best high school juniors in South Carolina. Guidance counselors from all South Carolina high schools are encouraged to nominate five of their best junior students based on outstanding academic and extracurricular criteria.

    By meeting the requirements for the USC Upstate Junior Scholars program, students are considered an excellent candidate for admission to our freshman class. As a junior scholar, students will automatically be considered for USC Upstate’s academic scholarships and will have their $45 freshman application fee waived. Students should meet the following requirements:

    Minimum GPA: 3.0
    Ranked in the top 25% of their class

    Guidance counselors, please complete the online nomination form by April 1, 2024.

    Junior Scholars Ceremony
    A ceremony to welcome new Junior Scholars will take place during the Open House program on Saturday, April 27, 2024 under the tent at the G.B. Hodge Center. After the ceremony, attendees will have the option to have lunch on USC Upstate’s campus and participate in a full campus tour.

    USC Upstate is buzzing with opportunities just for you, and we’re excited to show you why it’s the perfect place to launch your academic adventure!

    We offer personalized or group tours of our amazing campus. You can stroll through our state-of-the-art facilities and our beautiful 330-acre campus and learn why USC Upstate offers everything you need to succeed! After your visit, we offer online and on-campus meetings with USC Upstate staff who are ready to answer your questions about housing, financial aid, enrollment or any other concerns that you may have.

    Transfer Tuesday
    Looking for a respected academic program and a great setting? That’s exactly what you’ll find at USC Upstate. If you’re considering a transfer, then Transfer Tuesday is just for you!

    Transfer Tuesday is designed for transfer students to meet individually with our admissions, financial aid, and advisement staff. This provides you all the details that will ensure your transition to USC Upstate is a smooth and seamless process. All Transfer Tuesday events take place in the Health Education Complex (HEC) with check-in beginning at 2:30p.m., and program kick-off at 3:00p.m. Learn more about Transfer Tuesday.

    *Students are encouraged to bring a copy of their academic transcripts for review of transfer credit.

    Fab Friday
    If you’re exploring your college options, we encourage you to join us for Fab Friday! It’s a fun, relaxed, and unique way for you to learn all about USC Upstate! You’ll be able to chat with student life, tour our housing, and discover all about what makes our campus the perfect choice for you! Plus, our admissions and financial aid team will be here to help you with the enrollment process.

    All Fab Friday events take place in the Health Education Complex (HEC) with check-in beginning at 9:30a.m., and program kick-off at 10:00a.m. A free lunch is provided to all attendees! Learn more about Fab Friday.

    Spartan Saturday
    Join us for our Spartan Saturday at USC Upstate! This is one of the best ways for students and families to get a closer look at USC Upstate. Spend a Saturday morning touring our campus, meeting current students, and learning about all the opportunities our campus holds for you! All attendees are welcome to attend sessions during the program that will cover topics such as financial aid, housing & residential life, the student success center, and more. 

    All Spartan Saturday events take place in the University Readiness Center (URC) with check-in beginning at 9:30 a.m., and program kick-off at 10 a.m. Plus, a free lunch will be provided to all attendees! Learn more about Spartan Saturday.
