The USC Upstate Junior Scholars program recognizes some of the best high school juniors in South Carolina. Guidance counselors from all South Carolina high schools are encouraged to nominate five of their best junior students based on outstanding academic and extracurricular criteria.
By meeting the requirements for the USC Upstate Junior Scholars program, students are considered an excellent candidate for admission to our freshman class. As a junior scholar, students will automatically be considered for USC Upstate’s academic scholarships and will have their $45 freshman application fee waived. Students should meet the following requirements:
Minimum GPA: 3.0
Ranked in the top 25% of their classJunior Scholar Nomination Form

A ceremony to welcome new Junior Scholars will take place during the Open House program on Saturday, April 27, 2024 under the tent at the G.B. Hodge Center. After the ceremony, attendees will have the option to have lunch on USC Upstate’s campus and participate in a full campus tour. -

Admissions counselors are available to meet with prospective students and give campus tours at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., Monday through Friday, throughout most of year. Transfer Tuesdays are designed for transfer students to meet individually with admissions, financial aid, and advisement staff so that they can help with all of the details to make your transition to USC Upstate a smooth and seamless process.*Explore all the options available to you at USC Upstate. We offer options for flexible scheduling, evening and online courses. Dates are available at our main campus in Spartanburg and at our Greenville campus. We hope to see you at a Transfer Tuesday soon!
*Students are encouraged to bring a copy of their academic transcripts for review of transfer credit.

Students can spend a Friday away from high school or with their friends or parents discovering what college is really like. Fabulous Friday is a fun, no-forms, no-stress environment and the best way to find out all of the unique features that set USC Upstate apart from other schools. Designed to give students an in-depth, first-hand look at USC Upstate, Open House is a great opportunity to take a Saturday to tour campus facilities and find out about degree programs and student life options. Prospective students will have the opportunity to meet current students, faculty, staff and administrators and have lunch with other prospective students.
