Conference Schedule — WGS South 2024
As the culmination of our 25th anniversary, CWGS Upstate is proud to host the 49th annual conference of WGS South (formerly the Southeastern Women’s Studies Association), an annual meeting of a professional society of gender studies scholars in the southeastern region. The theme – Care Feminisms, Crip Futures – spotlights health, illness, dis/ability, and gender in relation to race, sexuality, and nationality. Over 200 scholars of gender studies will present their research at this conference. Keynotes from Sara Ahmed, Laura Mauldin, and Hil Malatino—as well as a plenary panel on Black women and ability or disability—are special features.
The plenary at 3:00 on Thursday, March 28 includes speakers on high-achieving Black women and depression, Black women and the pandemic, and Black women and neurodivergence in higher ed.
