Master of Education in Visual Impairment: Shaping Future Educators
Take the next step in your teaching career with a Master’s in Visual Impairment Education at USC Upstate. This is South Carolina’s only program designed for certified teachers who want to specialize in visual impairment.
In this program, you’ll combine the latest teaching theories with practical experience. You will be trained to support students with visual impairments in K-12 classrooms. Our hands-on approach gives you the tools to make a meaningful impact.
Why Choose Our Program?
With a significant percentage of current teachers of visually impaired students set to retire within the next few years, there’s never been a better time to explore this critical field. Our program is meticulously designed to align with the core values of the College of Education and the standards set by the Council for Exceptional Children.
A Comprehensive Approach
Embark on a two-year journey that offers a blend of live, in-person classes at the South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind during the summer months, along with distance learning sessions in the fall and spring. The program covers a wide range of essential subjects, including braille, orientation and mobility, and assistive technology. By completing this program, you will be fully equipped to meet the diverse educational needs of students with visual impairments.
Empowering Educators
Our program provides more than just classroom instruction. It places a strong emphasis on collaborative clinical experiences in real school settings, allowing you to apply your skills in practical situations. With small class sizes and a supportive learning environment, you’ll benefit from personalized attention. Courses are offered through a combination of on-campus and distance delivery methods, providing flexibility to fit your schedule.
