USC Upstate Ranks No. 2 Among Top Public Schools

The University of South Carolina Upstate has been recognized among the top colleges in the South, earning multiple distinctions in the U.S. News & World Report 2026 Best Colleges rankings.

USC Upstate achieved the following honors:

  • No. 1 among Best Colleges for Veterans – Regional Colleges (South)
  • No. 2 among Top Public Schools – Regional Colleges (South)
  • No. 7 among Regional Colleges (South)
  • No. 7 in Social Mobility – Regional Colleges (South)

Chancellor Bennie L. Harris, Ph.D., said the recognition highlights USC Upstate’s mission of preparing students for successful careers and meaningful lives.

The announcement comes as USC Upstate continues to experience record growth. More than 6,000 students are enrolled this fall, marking a significant increase and reinforcing the university’s role as the largest regional comprehensive university in the Upstate. The growth underscores USC Upstate’s commitment to expanding access to affordable, high-quality education for students across the state and region.

With strong enrollment and recognition for academic excellence, USC Upstate is strengthening its role as a driver of educational attainment and economic growth.
