INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY AND PUBLIC HEALTH NURSING

Have nursing skills and will travel! Take everything you’ve learned as a USC Upstate nursing student and make a difference in South Africa. The program is open to nursing students at the undergraduate and graduate levels who meet the prerequisite requirements listed below. Join Dr. Monique Jones and Dr. Vera Bratnichenko on the experience of a lifetime. Serve communities by providing health clinics and gain real world experience which may be reflected on your resume. Planned tours and excursions mean there will be plenty of fun to be had. You might even see a wild African penguin!

Program Requirements:
2nd semester junior in the BSN program by the summer of 2026, enrolled in the RN-BSN program, or enrolled in a nursing graduate program.
2.75 GPA

  • Program Fee: $7,400

    Fee includes: Housing, airfare, most meals, in-country transportation, health & travel insurance, planned events & tours, pre-departure orientation.

    Fee does not include: Summer tuition, some meals, trip delay/cancellation insurance, personal expenses.

    Payment Schedule: 
    Non-refundable Deposit: $1,400 – February 1, 2027
    First Payment: $3,000 – March 1, 2027
    Second Payment: $3,000 – April 1, 2027

    Master’s Students
    Prerequisite Requirements: Admission into graduate program.

    Doctoral Students
    Prerequisite Requirements: Admission into graduate program.

    RN/BSN Students
    Prerequisite Requirements: NURS U350
    Course(s) Taken Abroad: NURS U462 (6 credit hours), NURS U471P (international practicum option)
