Rates and Fees for Applications, Advanced Room Placement, and Cancellations
Application Fee
- Summer Housing: $50
- Academic Year (Fall/Spring): $100
Cancellation of the Contract Prior to the Start of the 2024-2025 Academic Year:
(a) June 1, 2024: If notice of cancellation is received by the Department of Housing and Residential Life on or before this date, the contract is cancelled with no additional charge. Cancelations received after July 1st will be charged a $240 cancellation fee. If you apply after July 1st, you must cancel within 10 days of the application submission date in order to not be charged a cancellation fee of $240.
Failure to Notify of Cancellation:
If notice of cancellation is not received by the Department of Housing and Residential Life prior to move-in date (August 16, 2024), and the student does not move-in, the student’s account will be charged a $240 cancellation fee and a $100 no show fee. Cancellations must be submitted in writing to hrl@uscupstate.edu. Cancellations will not be accepted by any other method.
Contract Release
Subject to Approval by Committee
- Summer Housing: Resident will be responsible for the full rent of any space occupied a minimum of 24 hours and 40 percent of the remaining value of the contract.
- Academic Year (Fall/Spring): $500 cancellation.

Residential Student Technology Fee (2024-2025 rate): $75 per semester
Residential Activity Fee: $35 per semester
Damage/Cleaning: The assistant director in your community will work with maintenance to determine the cost of damages or cleaning that is documented at move-out. Residents will only be billed for the actual cost of materials, supplies and labor needed to complete the work. The assistant director in each community will notify his/her residents of any damage or cleaning fees that will be billed.
Lockouts: Residents are allowed three lockouts (per year) before being charged $25 per lockout.
