Professional Certificate in Business Development.

Congratulations on making the decision to continuing your learning! Power Up participants will complete the below five core courses, as well as electives identified in collaboration with mentors, to earn a Professional Certificate in Business Development from USC Upstate. The core courses have been selected for their broad value to business owners; if you believe your skills require something more advanced, contact One Spartanburg to make a change to your curriculum.

These courses are all online and self-paced, offered in partnership with Ed2Go. Once registered, you will have 8 weeks to complete each course. Take the courses in any order you wish. You can take multiple courses at once, or you can take one at a time.

When your term begins, you will be emailed a direct link for registration from the Power Up team.


Core Classes

Mastery of Business Fundamentals

Are you interested in acquiring practical business experience in strategic planning, management, and finance without enrolling in an MBA program? You’ll understand the significance of strategic planning and discover how external and internal environmental factors affect an organization. You’ll learn about organizational structures, performance measurements, financial investment models, budgeting, ethics, workplace politics, and more! This course will provide you with in-depth knowledge of the business environment.

Intro to Quickbooks Online

This QuickBooks course will teach you how to manage your business finances with QuickBooks Online. You will learn to use key features of QuickBooks Online and gain hands-on experience creating invoices, receipts, and statements; track payables, inventory, and receivables; generating reports; and more. This course will empower you to take control of your business’s financial accounting, all with an online platform.

Business Finance for Non-Finance Personnel

Using practical explanations and real-life examples, this course will show you how money flows through a typical business. You will learn the basics of how a business operates, including how to develop successful business strategies and how to use financial statements to make better business decisions. This is a business finance course for non-financial employees and managers. By taking it, you will obtain significantly improved business acumen skills and financial understanding. Position yourself to be more confident in your business and financial decisions.

Fundamentals of Supervision and Management

If you have recently been promoted to a supervisory or management position or want to learn how to become a more effective manager, this course will help you master the basics of business by learning the language of management. You will learn how to manage your time so that you can deal with the constant demands of a managerial job. You will learn the skills required to delegate responsibility and motivate your employees and help you understand how to influence and direct other people’s performance. Finally, you will learn how to solve problems and resolve conflicts so you can accomplish your job more effectively.
