Nursing is an incredibly important career path, and Spartanburg teens now can explore this profession in a fun, stress-free way. Come join us for our week-long Teen Summer Academy and we will provide your student with a greater understanding of the important role of nurses in health, education, and in communities. See what a future career in the nursing profession looks like!

The University of South Carolina Upstate’s Mary Black College of Nursing will host its Teen Summer Academy this summer enabling rising 10th-12th graders in Spartanburg County to explore careers in nursing.

WHEN:

  • The academy will be held from June 24-28, 2024, on USC Upstate’s main campus.

WHO:

  • Teen resident of Spartanburg County
  • Attendee of Spartanburg County Schools
  • Rising grades 10-12
  • Limited space available (15 students)

WHY:

  • Come join us for a weeklong program that will provide you with a greater understanding of the important role of nurses in health, education, and communities. Explore a future career in the nursing profession.

WHAT:

  • Learn about the role of the nurse.
  • Explore various nursing career options.
  • Explore various educational pathways to nursing.
  • Learn how to prepare for college and nursing as a major.
  • Participate in hands-on clinical simulations.
  • Learn CPR and basic first aid skills.
  • Take a hospital tour.
