USC Upstate’s residential communities give students a warm, vibrant place to call home during their academic journey. Housing and Residential Life at Upstate is committed to creating inclusive, caring, and welcoming communities where students from diverse backgrounds can learn and grow together. We are proud to provide you with the gift of a welcoming community and look forward to you joining us on campus.

Apply for Housing

Apply for campus housing online through your Self Service Carolina Account. The Housing Application can be accessed by selecting “My Housing Portal” under the Personal Section.

Step 1-Apply for Housing

Complete the Housing application and pay the $100 application fee. Please note you will need your USC Upstate log-in credentials to sign into the Housing portal.

If you are unable to log in, it may be due to one of the following reasons:

  • Incorrect Login Credentials – Contact ITS at 864-503-5257 or helpdesk@uscupstate.edu for assistance.
  • Multiple USC System Applications – If you have applied to other USC system schools, contact their admissions office to confirm your attendance at USC Upstate and request removal from their database. Follow up with USC Upstate’s Admissions Office if needed.

Step 2-Roommate Group Formation

Beginning May 1, students will have the opportunity to create a roommate group. If you have specific individuals you would like to room with who have also applied for housing, you can add them to your group. Only one person from the group needs to initiate the creation of the roommate group.

Students who have completed the housing application will receive an email notification once this option becomes available.

If you do not have a preferred roommate, you will also have the option to log into the Housing Portal at that time to explore potential roommate matches.

Step 3-Select your Room

Students who apply by the below dates will be able to participate in the self-selection* process by choosing their space and meal plans during the times below:

  • Apply by April 30-Self-select space May 13-15
  • Apply by May 31-Self-select space June 17-19
  • Apply by June 30-Self-select space July 15-17

*Self-Selection is a process that allows students to choose their own bed space in the Housing Portal. Students select their own bed space in a particular hall and room and have the option to add roommates and suitemates.
