For Law Enforcement and Community Leaders
This professional certificate is designed for working law enforcement professionals and community leaders who want to support public safety and improve the effectiveness of their agencies. You’ll gain tools and strategies for collecting and analyzing data to identify crime patterns and inform policing decisions, all while continuing to work.
The five courses in this program mirror the Crime Analysis concentration within the Criminal Justice B.S. degree, combining data science with policing knowledge to address community problems. The curriculum prepares working professionals for entry-level roles as crime analysts in local, state, or federal law enforcement agencies as well as to sit for the Law Enforcement Analyst Foundational (LEAF) exam through the International Association of Crime Analysts (IACA).
The Courses
All courses are delivered in a 7.5-week, fully online format, with access to in-person and online support from faculty instructors, library support staff, and other student services both in Spartanburg and in Greenville at the University Center of Greenville (UCG). Courses are taken in sequence, beginning each August, and the full program can be completed in one academic year.
