Jump Start Summer Bridge Program

Jump Start Summer Bridge is a 2-week program that supports incoming students in preparing for the academic rigor of college, especially in math and sciences. This program will teach students academic skills and help build a strong foundation for success. Students who want to strengthen their math skills or refresh their core science foundations would benefit the most from this program. Participants will also develop support systems that foster an increased sense of belonging and promote faster progression toward graduation.

Program Dates

WEek ONE

August 4 – 9, 2025
(Online)

  • Complete College Success and Math Readiness modules at your own pace.
  • Expect to spend about 3-4 hours per day engaging with the content.

Week two

August 11 – 15, 2025
(In-person), 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

  • Participate in fun and interactive sessions designed to prepare you for college.
  • Residential students are eligible for early move-in.

Eligibility

This program is for new students in majors within the College of Science and Technology.

All activities will be in person on the Spartanburg campus of USC Upstate. 800 University Way, Spartanburg, S.C. 29303

Q: How do I know if I’m eligible?
A: Complete an application to the program and our staff will let you know if you are accepted. Email smw22@uscupstate.edu for additional details and to check your eligibility.

Q: What are the costs?
A: This is a free program. We will cover your costs for meals and program supplies. 

Q: Do I have to be a USC Upstate student?
A: Yes

Q: Is tutoring mandatory?
A: Yes! Tutoring and study hall are built into the program, and it is required for you to stay for those activities.

Q: What if I have summer vacation?
A: Please do not plan any vacation for August 4-August 15! This program requires attendance every day August 11-15.
